Really Useful Group’s Chinese partnership

Last year the Really Useful Group partnered with one of China’s biggest entertainment groups, Shanghai Media Group Live, which owns 13 theatres and several performing arts companies. The pair partnered on Chinese-language musicals and training in a bid to develop the country’s musical theatre industry. It is the live entertainment arm of Shanghai Media Group, which owns television and radio channels as well as news outlets and TV and film production arms. Dance Consortium Presents Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo

Last seen in the UK in 2015, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, the multi-award winning all-male, comedy ballet company, will return to the UK and receive its Ireland premiere in 2018 during an eight-week, twelve-venue tour beginning at The Peacock, London on 11 September. Sadler’s Wells Sampled

Sadler’s Wells starts the new year with the return of the dance taster festival Sadler’s Wells Sampled. It will feature world-class dance and a series of workshops and foyer activities, on Friday 2 & Saturday 3 February 2018. The festival gives audiences a chance to experience the broad range of dance presented at Sadler’s Wells at affordable prices, with proms style standing tickets available for just £5, with all other tickets at £20. Following its London run, Sampled will then tour to The Lowry, Salford Quays as part of The Movement, a producing partnership for dance between Sadler’s Wells, The Lowry and Birmingham Hippodrome. Birmingham Hippodrome extension approved

Planning has been approved for the new Dance Hub Birmingham development for the Birmingham Hippodrome campus, which will support its positioning as a leading international hub for dance. Designed by UK architect practice Austin-Smith:Lord, the New York-inspired rooftop extension will enable increased access for local artists and communities, developing the infrastructure for the vibrant and growing dance sector in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands region. Joseph Caley to be Lead Principal of English National Ballet

It was recently announced that Joseph Caley – a new joiner of the company – is set to be promoted to Lead Principal of English National Ballet. Joining Caley backstage following his performance as the Nephew in Nutcracker at the London Coliseum, Tamara Rojo CBE, Artistic Director of English National Ballet, announced his promotion in front of the company on 13 December.
