Genée International Ballet Competition

The Royal Academy of Dance has announced Hong Kong Ballet Principal dancer, and Genée Alumni, Ye Feifei as the Genée 2018 Ambassador. Over 50 of the finest young dancers working to the RAD syllabus from around the world have been selected to take part in this year’s Genée International Ballet Competition, one of the world’s most prestigious ballet competitions. The week-long event will be held at Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Hong Kong City Hall from the 3-12 August 2018. Genée 2018 is held in partnership with Hong Kong Ballet. London Tap Festival’s gala presented by Adam Garcia

A Gala Performance to celebrate the final day of the London Tap Dance Intensive (LTDI), taking place at London Cabaret Club on Sunday 29 July has been announced, in aid of the Royal mental health initiative #HeadsTogether. The event, hosted by star of stage and screen Adam Garcia, will have performances from cast members of 42nd Street, STOMP, Hamilton, Tap Dogs and Motown, alongside the tap festival’s faculty of world-class professional tap dancers. A world premiere for Natalia Osipova

Multi-award-winning ballerina Natalia Osipova will return to Sadler’s Wells with a new production and world premiere, from Wednesday 12 – Sunday 16 September. Produced by Sadler’s Wells, Pure Dance is a hand-picked programme of eclectic dance works exploring both contemporary and classical ballet repertoire rarely seen in the UK. This is Osipova’s second collaboration with Sadler’s Wells, following Natalia Osipova, an evening of new contemporary work which premiered at Sadler’s Wells in 2016 and toured internationally. BalletBoyz® presents Young Men at Wilton’s Music Hall

The internationally acclaimed all-male dance company BalletBoyz® will present Young Men at Wilton’s Music Hall from 13–17 November, choreographed by Iván Pérez to a live version of the score, composed by cult singer songwriter Keaton Henson. It will be a new adaptation of the work, a portrayal of soldiers’ lives as part of the final 14–18 NOW season which marks the centenary of the armistice. New fund to promote learning through the arts in schools

It has been revealed that the Paul Hamlyn Foundation will grant £750,000 a year to arts organisations, helping primary school teachers use the arts in their classrooms. Cultural organisations and primary schools will be supported to work collaboratively to bring the arts into classrooms across the UK, following the launch of the new fund earlier this year. The Teacher Development Fund will therefore invest around £750,000 a year in partnership projects that promote learning through the arts by providing teacher training.
