China to build new city dedicated to the arts

China is set to build a huge city dedicated to the arts, recent reports have stated. The £2 billion 988-acre site, 60 miles from Beijing, will include performance venues, a museum, exhibition space for artist residencies and offices. Sadler’s Wells commissions Akram Khan to create new film

Sadler’s Wells has commissioned Associate Artist Akram Khan to create a short film inspired by XENOS, his final new full-length solo. The seven minute film, XEN, produced by Illuminations for Sadler’s Wells, is a reimagined version of Akram Khan’s performance but for the screen, and is available for viewers to watch online. Shobana Jeyasingh Dance announces the tour of Contagion

This autumn Shobana Jeyasingh Dance brings Shobana’s latest dance work Contagion to six science, art and war-related sites across the country. As a major new dance work, the tour opens on 15 September at the Gymnasium Gallery in Berwick-upon-Tweed, a former army barracks where soldiers were sent to keep fit during the First World War.
