English National Ballet’s Autumn – Winter season
This Autumn-Winter season, English National Ballet presents four critically acclaimed productions: Lest We Forget, Manon, Swan Lake, and Nutcracker. The season will run from 20 September 2018 – 20 January 2019.
To commemorate the end of the First World War, English National Ballet’s acclaimed Lest We Forget programme returns to Sadler’s Wells, London, in September 2018, opening the company’s 2018/2019 season. Featuring three poignant works, Lest We Forget reflects on the experiences of those who fought in the conflict, and those who stayed behind. Drawing on superb design and evocative scores, choreographers Liam Scarlett, Russell Maliphant and Akram Khan have created dance pieces full of unforgettable and haunting images. China to build new city dedicated to the arts
China is set to build a huge city dedicated to the arts, recent reports have stated. The £2 billion 988-acre site, 60 miles from Beijing, will include performance venues, a museum, exhibition space for artist residencies and offices. The Troubadour Wembley Park will open in autumn 2018 as a flexible 1,000- to 2,000-seat venue, able to be configured for in-the-round, immersive and proscenium arch shows. Sadler’s Wells commissions Akram Khan to create new film
Sadler’s Wells has commissioned Associate Artist Akram Khan to create a short film inspired by XENOS, his final new full-length solo. The seven minute film, XEN, produced by Illuminations for Sadler’s Wells, is a reimagined version of Akram Khan’s performance but for the screen, and is available for viewers to watch online. Shobana Jeyasingh Dance announces the tour of Contagion
This autumn Shobana Jeyasingh Dance brings Shobana’s latest dance work Contagion to six science, art and war-related sites across the country. As a major new dance work, the tour opens on 15 September at the Gymnasium Gallery in Berwick-upon-Tweed, a former army barracks where soldiers were sent to keep fit during the First World War.
