Janis Claxton – shining a light on female choreography
Based in Edinburgh and touring internationally, Janis Claxton Dance is a multi-award winning company with a reputation for bringing high quality works to new and diverse audiences including large-scale performances in Scotland’s National Museums and Galleries, Edinburgh Zoo and Edinburgh International Science Festival. The company’s latest and highly acclaimed work POP-UP Duets (fragments of love), was presented at National Museum of Scotland as part of the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe and Made in Scotland Showcase. It will soon visit Jacob’s Pillow.
Known for her diverse and unique works and her abilities to craft exquisite material with world-class dancers, Janis has worked as a choreographer, teacher and movement director internationally including for; Scottish Opera, Dantzaz, National Theatre of Scotland, Kaohsiung Spring Arts Festival, Beijing Dance/LDTX, National Dance Company of Wales, Beijing Dance Festival, Edinburgh International Science Festival, National Museum of Scotland, Beijing Dance Academy, UK NOW Festival China, World Expo Shanghai, Back to Back & Lung Ha Theater Companies, Sichuan Peoples Art Theatre, and many more.

English National Ballet’s Autumn – Winter season
This Autumn-Winter season, English National Ballet presents four critically acclaimed productions: Lest We Forget, Manon, Swan Lake, and Nutcracker. The season will run from 20 September 2018 – 20 January 2019.
To commemorate the end of the First World War, English National Ballet’s acclaimed Lest We Forget programme returns to Sadler’s Wells, London, in September 2018, opening the company’s 2018/2019 season. Featuring three poignant works, Lest We Forget reflects on the experiences of those who fought in the conflict, and those who stayed behind. Drawing on superb design and evocative scores, choreographers Liam Scarlett, Russell Maliphant and Akram Khan have created dance pieces full of unforgettable and haunting images. Rambert’s nine decades of dance
Rambert’s 92nd anniversary saw the launch of a new database documenting every Rambert premiere since The Tragedy of Fashion premiered in 1926, detailing which dancers and musicians performed, names of the creative teams, music and venue, as well as the other pieces performed that night if part of a triple bill. Dance Umbrella’s Four by Four
Dance Umbrella, London’s flagship festival of international dance, will celebrate its 40th anniversary this autumn. To mark this milestone Dance Umbrella has launched Four by Four– a programme inspired by the festival’s four decades of artistic growth, a way of moving forwards by looking back. This initiative aims to support the choreographers of the future.
In Four by Four all three of Dance Umbrella’s Artistic Directors, Val Bourne CBE, Betsy Gregory and Emma Gladstone, have invited an established artist from their time at the helm to nominate a ‘choreographer of the future’ to make work for future festivals. Les Misérables Broadway production to tour the UK
The Broadway production of Les Misérables is set to tour the UK this year, with the show opening at Curve Leicester before heading to venues throughout the country. NoFit State Circus and Motionhouse return from down under
NoFit State Circus and Motionhouse are back in the UK following a trip to Australia to perform their outdoor dance-circus collaboration BLOCK to audiences from all around the Commonwealth at Festival 2018, the arts and cultural programme of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia. Aaron S. Watkin – Semperoper Ballett’s Artistic Director
Aaron Sean Watkin graduated from the National Ballet School of Canada and enjoyed a full career in dancing with The National Ballet of Canada, English National Ballet and Dutch National Ballet. He was then invited by world-renowned choreographer William Forsythe to become a principal dancer with Ballett Frankfurt, and later joined the National Dance Company of Spain under the directorship of Nacho Duato.
