Theatres Trust launched its £300,000 building improvement scheme earlier this year, as the new fund plans to help theatres improve their signage, seating and access routes to improve accessibility for staff and audiences. Many theatres are many years old, so this fund will go a long way in ensuring theatres and other similar buildings are as inclusive and accessible as possible. The brand-new dance talent show for BBC One on Saturday nights will be hosted by singer and presenter Alesha Dixon and Jordan Banjo, member of multi-award winning dance troupe Diversity. Everybody’s Talking About Jamie
The hit production Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is set to become a film adaption, and is now looking for local talent to appear in it. The musical, based on the 2011 BBC documentary _ Jamie: Drag Queen at 16_, is written by Dan Gillespie Sells and Tom MacRae, and originally premiered in Sheffield. Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo
The countdown begins until Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo (known as The Trocks), the multi-award winning all-male, comedy ballet company, returns to the UK and receives its Ireland premiere this autumn during an eight-week, twelve-venue tour. It will begin at The Peacock in London on 11 September and concludes at Grand Opera House in Belfast on 3 November.

The One Dance UK 2018 conference
The One Dance UK 2018 conference will take place on 23 – 24 November in Leeds, delivered in association with Leeds Dance Partnership. NUREYEV – new film in nationwide cinemas
NUREYEV, from BAFTA nominated directors Jacqui and David Morris, will be launching in cinemas nationwide from 25 September 2018, with daily previews at Curzon Mayfair, London from 21 September. The striking and moving documentary traces the extraordinary life of Rudolf Nureyev, the most famous male ballet dancer of all time, who transcended the dance world to become a global icon. It charts his rise from humble beginnings, to his eventual defection to the West, an event that shocked the world.

Ballet West launches Scotland’s first performance lower school
Ballet West in Taynuilt, West Highlands, has launched Scotland’s first High Performance Lower School for 12 to 16 year old aspiring ballet dancers. The school, based in Oban, opens on 14 August. This will complement the work of the Upper School where students train for the Hons Degree Course in Dance, validated by the Open University, and the successful Associates programmes in Edinburgh, Glasgow and new programme in Dundee.

The impact of dance on health, wellbeing and empowerment
Yorkshire Dance, the dance development organisation for the region, alongside researchers from the University of Leeds, have published a report on the impact of dance on the health, wellbeing and sense of empowerment of young people. The research, funded by Arts Council England’s Research Grants programme, focused on two groups of young people, aged between 10 and 20, living in a deprived area of East Leeds.
