There have been reports that the hit story The Wolf of Wall Street is set to be turned into an immersive theatre experience. Jordan Belfort’s shocking memoir of the same name is being adapted for the stage, following its success in the box office as a film. Immersive experiences are still hugely popular, offering audiences a way to be become entirely involved in the action, playing their own role in the storyline.
The Wolf of Wall Street is due to open at a central London location in September. The show is created by the team behind the immersive production of The Great Gatsby, with Alexander Wright adapting and directing the piece. The venue is yet to be announced but the show will run over four storeys and will feature 1990s New York, trader schemes and supercars. There will be a restaurant, bars and audiences can either trade with Jordan, or work for the FBI.
Belfort’s memoir was made into a hit film by Martin Scorsese starring Leonardo DiCaprio. It tells the story of the highs and lows of Belfort’s time as a New York stockbroker in the ’90s, and the consequences that ensued. Not for the faint hearted, the immersive experience looks set to outshine the book and the film in its activity, so audiences can experience The Wolf of Wall Street in person.
The show opens with previews from 5 September and is currently booking until 19 January 2020. Further details to be announced.
